  • (2) 1" x 6" x 8' Board

Steps

STEP 1

Cut out all panels from plywood as well as boards from 1"x12", 1"x10" and 1"x 6". Trim pieces from 1" x 3" and 1" x 2" will be cut to fit as entryway bench is constructed. Use lumber cut list.

STEP 2

On the back end of the bench seat panel, measure a 3/4" x 4-3/4" notch on both sides. Cut out with a Circular Saw and Jig Saw

STEP 3

On the back end of the top shelf, measure a 3/4" x 4-3/4" notch on both sides. Cut out with a Circular Saw and Jig Saw.

STEP 4

Attach a 5-1/2" foot pad to the underside of each corner of the base bottom using glue and 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 5

Find center of each foot pad and drill a 3/8" hole, 1" deep. Screw inserts that with furniture feet into 3/8" holes using hex key.

STEP 6

Align foot pads with bottom edge of back panel. Glue and attach from the back with 1 1/2" brad nails. All panels and boards should be glued before nailing.

STEP 7

Find center for middle bench partitions and attach all three partitions equal distance (EQ) from each other. Nail using 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 8

Cut and attach seat back under support boards to back panel with 1-1/4" brad nails. Make top edge even with top of partitions.

STEP 9

Measure up 3/4" from under support boards to create attachment space for the seat. Cut and attach with 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 10

Measure and mark a line at 1-1/2" from each top edge. Align corbel top to upper edge of back board and line. Screw together from the back side.

STEP 11

Measure down 6-3/4" from top the back panel. Align top of backer board with corbels and attach with 1-1/4" brads.

STEP 12

Cut and align top back trim board to top of back panel using 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 13

Measure and cut back stiles. Find center and attach all to back panel with 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 14

Align the two 1" x 6" side boards with the top of the back panel and attach from the sides with 1-1/2" brad nails. Side boards should extend 1" past foot pads on bottom.

STEP 15

Attach bench seat to partitions with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 16

Attach top shelf to corbels and backer board with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 17

Align middle upper back stile to center of back board and the two side stiles next to the side boards and attach with 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 18

Align top outside and inner trim to upper edge of side boards. 45° cut to match front edge of face side board. Attach both top face trim board to assembly. Attach with 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 19

Align top edge of shelf face trim to top surface of shelf. Align both shelf side trim boards to 45° cuts. Attach with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 20

Add the seat side stile trim to both sides of bench outer partition panels. Make even with front edge of partition. Fit under seat and flush with top of bench base panel. Attach with 1-1/4" brad nails.

STEP 21

Align seat face and side trim boards to seat panel. Make flush to top of both boards. 45° cuts to match outside edge of side stiles. Attach with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 22

Attach all four feet to pads. Screw into inserts. To align feet to run parallel with bench, threaded inserts may need to be rotated.

STEP 23

Align inner base face and side trim to seat base panel. Make flush to top of both boards. 45° cuts to match outside edge of foot pads. Attach with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 24

Attach all three seat face stiles to partition panels. Outside edges of stiles should be flush with side stiles. Center middle face stile. Attach with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 25

Align outer base face and side trim to bottom edge of inner base trim. 45° cuts to match edges of inner trim boards. Attach with 1-1/2" brad nails.

STEP 26

Fill all nail holes and sand to your desired finish.

Install coat hooks to backer board.
