Our old door was just a standard metal one that wasn't keeping the winter cold out nor the summer heat. Instead of spending $600+ for a new one I decided to build my own. I started with a simple image on Google but the wife had to make things more complex, of course. I used old pallets to save money and some cedar fence pickets for the outer trim, I used my Brad nailer to put on the planks and trim and it has held up perfectly. Once it was finished I used Thompsons clear coat sealer and that made the natural colors POP! Not only does it look better than the door before but it serves it's initial purpose, and my energy bill has been reduced!
