Replaced our 14-year old garage door opener with a Ryobi Garage Door Opener with 4 modules. Modules include: Bluetooth Speaker, Fan, Retractable Extension Cord, and Inflator. For added functionality, I soldered a Z-wave Dry Contact switch into one or the GDO remotes and paired with my home automation system for a one stop shop for home control. This switch and remote sit on top of the GDO and works flawlessly. Unfortunately, there is no API available for adding home automation control of the fan, speaker, or inflator.

  • Installing mine, with the laser park module, this weekend. Wanted the camera but HD doesn't seem to have it yet :( Hoping an average skill DIY'er can remove old Craftsman unit (worked great for 20+ yrs just wanted the battery backup) and install this system within 90 minutes or so. Like the fan module just not sure how much air it really pushes that you can feel.

  • It would be amazing if this were compatible with any of the hubs out there. Samsung SmartThings, Alexa, even IFTTT.

  • Relative to ZWave...how is it possible that the GDO does not have a ZWave module yet? Does Ryobi understand the Connected Home yet? When will we have a ZWave module?

    • Yes, please add an integration with Smarthings, Amazon, Google, etc.  This is a great device to have incorporated into a smart home.

  • Did you happen to capture any images of your soldered work? Very interested to see that.
